What we do…

 In our lab, we explore the use of organic chemistry to modify pharmaceuticals into derivatives bacteria can metabolize. To do this, we develop “traditional” organic reactions that are non-toxic and efficient under conditions that bacterial cultures can grow.  The goal is to modify pharmaceutical compounds into derivatives more easily degraded by bacteria and other living organisms.
